Monthly Hints
Gen 3 Rocker Arm Retaining Bolts
This is to remind technicians that the rocker arm retaining bolts are a consumable bolt, which requires that they be
replaced whenever they are removed for any reason. They must not be reused.
For a complete list of consumable bolts for all V and W models refer to Holden PV SIP CD Service Information m ain
menu page.
A/T 3rd Gear Whine Noise - VY/V2/WH current build
A few technicians have reported that they have had trouble diagnosing an A/T 3rd gear whine noise and have actually
believed the noise to be electrical interference coming through a speaker. To assist with diagnosis into such high
pitched whine noises – drive the vehic le at around 60km /h (usual com plaint s peed) in 3rd – while listening to the noise,
change from 3rd to 2nd and the noise should stop – shift back to 3rd and the noise should re-start. Where the high
pitched nois e is def ined as being within the A/T, us ing this method – replac e the A/T with a SRT A unit and f ax off a PIR
about the case.
XC- SRS Light On - DTC B0024 - Diagnosis Hint
If you have a vehicle with this symptom check for damage to the wiring harness that runs between the glovebox and
centre cons ole c ompartment below the radio. Remove glovebox to view this area. Thank s to Brett Dignam of Mc Gr ath
Holden for the PIR reporting this condition.
