JS 2 VECTRA 1100/1300kg TOW BAR PACKAGE
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: The 1100kg and 1300kg tow bar packages use exactly the same tow bar and components. The towing
capacity is determined by the vehicle engine size,as suggested in the Owners Manual, ie. 1100kg for 4 cylinder
vehicle and 1300kg for V6 vehicle.
1. Remove rubber exhaust support rings (2 places) and allow muffler to hang, to gain access to existing
holes in LH rear longitudinal for tow bar attachment. Flexible exhaust system will allow movement of
muffler.
2. On sedan and hatch models only, remove crossmember cover from rear wall of rear compartment, (7
screws-sedan 4 screws-hatch). Crossmember removal is not essential for tow bar fitment but is required
for trailer harness fitment. Usually the trailer harness will be fitted to coincide with tow bar fitment, so
removal of crossmember cover is suggested to aid installation of both packages.
3. Remove or reposition rear compartment floor trim to access area of floor where tow bar boot plates are to
be fitted.
4. Locate dimples in compartment floor (2 each side), which indicate boot plate locations. Position LH boot
plate in its mounting location. Mark floor around edge of boot plate to indicate where deadener must be
removed. Scrape deadener from this mounting area. (Ignore area of deadener marked by perforated
line).
NOTE: LHS boot plate is identified by contoured edge which allows for floor swage, refer view A.
5. With an 18mm drill or hole saw, drill thru floor only at dimple locations (4 places).
6. Vacuum swarf and deadener debris from floor.
7. Apply metal primer to all holes and any bare metal surfaces.
8. Apply silicone or butyl sealer to holes for water sealing and corrosion protection.
9. Insert spacers into drilled holes, place boot plates in position and insert M10 bolts.
NOTE: Different length spacers and coach bolts are used, refer views A and B for correct location of each
spacer and bolt.
10. Offer tow bar to vehicle and attach to M10 bolts, previously installed, using 10mm spring washers and
M10 nuts.
11. Tighten M10 nuts to 44Nm, (4 places).
12. Refit crossmember cover.
13. Refit rear compartment floor trim.
14. Offer tow bar tongue to tow bar to determine width and location of cutout required in rear skirt. Ensure
tongue is correctly alligned with tow bar then mark skirt at each side of tongue. Remove tow bar tongue
and measure 60.0mm from lower edge of skirt to determine height of cutout, refer section A-A.
15. Trim section from rear skirt to allow for tow bar tongue fitment, refer view E.
16. Attach tow bar tongue using M16 x 40 bolts and spring washers. Tighten M16 x 40 bolts,
80 - 90 Nm.
17. Clean surface on RHS B pillar and apply ADR label as shown in view D.
