
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR
VT REAR SPOILER
IMPORTANT: Please read the following instructions
carefully before fitting is attempted.
1. Clean rear deck lid. Ensure all protective wax,
grime and dust is completely removed.
NOTE: Avoid paint damage. Spoiler may be rested on a cloth
to prevent scratching.
2. Remove drilling template from the hardware kit, and check drilling positions.
3. Position template carefully on deck lid RHS first, then LHS. Carefully mark the outer drilling position. Two
holes on the LHS. Three holes on the RHS, the larger hole to be drilled through the outer panel only.
4. Apply masking tape around areas to be drilled
NOTE: The template is handed. RHS on the top, invert template to show LHS.
5. DOUBLE CHECK ALL POINTS BEFORE PROCEEDING.
Use a centre punch to mark hole positions for drilling.
NOTE: Place wooden chocks under area to be drilled.
6. Use a 3mm drill bit to pre-drill holes through the deck lid. Ensure to penetrate the outer panel only when pre-
drilling the third hole on the RHS(wiring hole).
7. Re-drill the four mounting positions with a 10mm drill bit. Use a 15mm hole saw to re-drill the hole for the
wiring.
8. Deburr all holes - rustproof using Zinc Chromate or equivalent. Remove masking tape.
NOTE: If primed only spoiler has been ordered, paint spoiler then fit brake lamp and harness, prior to installation
to deck lid, refer fig. 1, view A.
9. Carefully place rear spoiler on deck lid and pass wire through 15mm drilled hole.
10. From underside of deck lid, install rubber washers to protruding studs. Temporarily fix spoiler into
position with nuts supplied. ENSURE SPOILER IS IN CORRECT POSITION.
Install rubber washers to bolts then use bolts to complete assembly to decklid. Tighten all fasteners
( 2-5 Nm ).
11. Attach wiring connector from spoiler to the available connector within the deck lid.
NOTE: When fitting spoiler to Calais, use patch harness (M41694), refer fig. 2, views A and B.
NOTE: By law, an interior high mounted rear brake lamp must be disconnected when fitting a vehicle with a
rear spoiler.
12. Disconnect high mounted brake lamp. Remove bulb (discard) and reconnect.
