
VT POWER STEERING FLUID COOLER FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Disconnect battery negative terminal.
2. Remove front bumper facia, refer VT service manual.
3. For vehicles where automatic transmission cooler and/or mounting brackets are not already fitted, contact dealer to order mounting
brackets and screws, refer page 4 for part numbers. Attach the two fluid cooler mounting brackets to the front of the upper and lower
radiator support panels, using four screws, refer view A.
NOTE: (a) Holes for the screws are already punched in the panels.
(b) Plastic panel on the lower radiator support panel must be bent downwards to expose the
attaching holes.
4. Feed the open ends of the fluid cooler through the opening beside the bottom right hand corner of the engine cooling radiator, refer view B.
5. Attach fluid cooler to the mounting brackets with the two screws supplied, refer illustrations, page 3.
IMPORTANT: Do not use weld studs on mounting brackets to attach power steering fluid cooler. Weld studs are for mounting automatic
transmission cooler only.
V8 HOSE INSTALLATION
1. Cut two pieces of hose 400mm long from length of hose supplied, and discard the remaining 150mm.
2. Connect a 400mm hose to each of the ends of the cooler loop and secure with hose clamps supplied.
3. Remove the existing return hose.
4. Connect the hoses from the fluid cooler as follows:
(a) Connect hose from outer fluid cooler connection to original return pipe and secure with hose clamp supplied
(b) Connect hose from inner (closest to radiator) fluid cooler connection to return pipe on power steering pump assembly
and secure with hose clamp supplied
V6 HOSE INSTALLATION
1. Cut one piece of hose 620mm long from the length of hose supplied, leaving approx 330mm for the second hose.
2. Connect the 620mm long hose to the outer fluid cooler connection and secure with hose clamp supplied
3. Connect the 330mm long hose to the inner (closest to radiator) fluid cooler connection and secure with hose clamp supplied
4. Remove the original return hose.
5. Connect the short hose to the original return pipe and secure with hose clamp supplied.
6. Route the long hose, up past the OUTSIDE of the delivery hose between the reservoir and power steering pump, then connect onto the
reservoir and secure with hose clamp supplied
ALL INSTALLATIONS
1. Reconnect the battery negative terminal
2. Top up the power steering reservoir with fluid then bleed the system as described in the VT service manual.
3. Check the fluid level and check for leaks at the joints. Also, ensure hoses cannot contact any moving parts of the engine or suspension.
Use straps supplied as required.
4. Reinstall the front bumper facia.
