1 General Information
The HSV Avalanche AWD series is a new design featuring new HSV major assemblies such as body styling, seats,
suspension, engine and exhaust system, new HSV body components, and new HSV internal fittings and convenience
items. These HSV components, assemblies and fittings are not described in service-type manuals produced for
standard Holden models.
The purpose of this Supplem ent is to provide information on the un ique HSV components fitted to HSV Avala nche AWD
vehicles. The information i n this document is designed to supplement the information contai ned in the Holden Advent ra
AWD series Service Manuals, and details are given where differences occur between the HSV models and standard
Holden models. A series of instruction dr awings describe the design changes an d indicate specific part numbers, fitting
instructions and relevant notes for vehicle se rvicing.
This supplement is divided into Sections and each Section addresses a specific subject - for example, Section D
discusses Brake Systems. In addition, supplementary Service Bulletins will be issued (as the need arises) to describe
service operations on new systems and/or new vehicles not previously described in this supplement. These
supplementary Service Bulleti ns will be issued in numerical sequenc e.
Terms used in this document accord with the contents of International Standard ISO 1087 (1990). In addition, other
terms are used to indicate that precautions must be taken during the servicing procedures that follow. The terms used
are Caution and Note, and these terms have the following meanings:

1.1 HSV Build Plate
HSV vehicles can be identified by the HSV Vehicle Build Plate, which is mounted in the engine compartment. An
example of an HSV Build Plate is shown on Drawing 1A2F-030035. The HSV Build Plate now has a black over gold
finish.
