ATTENTION
HSV vehicles are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). An SRS consists of seat belt pre-
tensioners (fitted to all front seats), a driver’s side airbag, a passenger’s-side air bag and left and right hand
side air bags. Refer to CAUTIONS, Section 12M, of the Holden Adventra AWD series Service Information
before performing any service operation on or around SRS components, the steering mechanism or wiring.
Failure to follow the C AUTIONS cou ld result in personal injury or unnecessar y SRS system repairs.

1 Purpose
The purpose of this supplement is to provide information on the HSV electrical and instrument accessories fitted to the
HSV Avalanche AWD mode ls. T he information is desig ned to supplem ent that given in the Hold en Adventra AWD ser ies
Service Information and details are given where differences occur between the HSV models, and standard Holden
models. A series of instruction drawings describe the design changes and indicate specific part numbers, fitting
instructions and relevant notes for vehicle se rvicing.

If specific technical data on a HSV model is not
contained in this supplement, obtain data for that
model from the Holden Adventra AWD series

made throughout this section to Holden Service
Information, to assist in providing information for
specific service operations.

2 Instrumentation
2.1 General Information
A special Instrument Cluster designed by HSV is fitted to all HSV Avalanche AWD vehicles. The cluster includes a HSV
speedometer with an operating range extending to 260 km/h. The cluster incorporates a white face, red nee dles and
warning lights and, when illu minated, white numerals and letters. T he cluster also consists of 3 multifunction display
windows. At key off the centre window displays the model and build number of the vehicle. The center windo w displays
the HSV logo at key on for a short period. For details on graphic appeara nce, see Drawing 12J-040001.

2.2 Service Operations
The HSV instrument cluster and the standar d Holden Adventra AWD cluster use the sam e mounting fixtures and
fasteners. Remove, service and refit the HSV instrument cluster in accordance with the procedures detailed in the
Adventra AWD Series Service Information, refer to Section 12C – Instruments.

3 Electrical Facilities
The various special HSV options fitted to the HSV Avalanche AWD range of vehicles often req uire that special or
additional electric harn esses be installed. Some of these HSV harnesses are fitted during vehicle build-up at the Ho lden
factory and other smaller harnesses (often called ‘a patc h harness’) are fitted at the HSV facility when the electrical
option is being installed. A summary of these electrical harnesses is included to facilitate service, repa ir and retro-fitment
of the HSV options.

4 Gauge Binnacle (POD)
Avalanche AWD is fitted with a gauge binn acle POD which houses an oil pressure gauge and battery voltag e gauge.
Refer to Drawings B06-020601 and 12H-020601.
Oil Pressure
The oil pressure gauge takes i t’s reading from a Ω180 resist ive to ground sender. At 0 KPa the sender should read
approx 10Ω across the sender terminal to ground. At 500 kPa the sender should read 180 across the se nder terminal to
ground. The (Gauge POD) har ness circuits are as follows.
Battery Voltage
The battery voltage is taken from the accessories circuit. The gauge should read battery voltage when the key is in IGN
position.
