Electronic Throttle Control Supplement
ATTENTION
HSV vehicles are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). An SRS consists of seat belt pre-
tensioners (fitted to all front seats), a dri ver’s-side air bag , a passenger’s-sid e air bag and left and right hand
side air bags. Refer to CAUTIONS, Section 12M of the Holden V2 Coupe Service Information before
performing any service operation on or around SRS components, the steering mechanism or wiring. Failure
to follow the CAUTIONS could result in personal injury or unnecess ary SRS system repairs.

1 General Information
HSV released two Avalanch e XUV models in MY2004. Early MY2 004 Avalanche XUV models were equipped with cable
throttle control which was updated to Electronic Th rottle Control (ETC) in the last half of MY2004.
ETC equipped vehicl es also have several minor upgra des over the non ETC vehicles as listed below:
• The Instrument Centre Gauge Pod now reverts to using the standard Holden Centre Gauge Pod. For all repair
and service information Refer Section 1A3 of Holden MY2004 VZ Service Information.
• The Engine Cover has been upgraded to a “clip on” design. Refer illustration 08I-030017.
