ATTENTION:

HSV vehicles are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). An SRS consists of seat belt pre-

tensioners (fitted to all front seat s), a driver’s-side air bag, a passeng er’s-side air bag and left and right h and

side air bags. Refer to CAUTIONS, Section 12M Occupant Protection System in the MY 2005 VZ Series Service

Information before performing any service operation on or around SRS components, the steering mechanism

or wiring. Failure to follow the CAUTIONS could result in personal injury or unnecessary SRS system repairs.

1 General Information

The HSV VZ series is a new design featuring new HSV major assemblies such as body styling, seats, suspension,

engine and exhaust s ystem, new HSV body compone nts, and new HSV internal fittings and conveni ence items. These

HSV components, assemblies and fittings are not described in service-type manuals produced for standard Holden

models.

The purpose of this Suppl ement is to pr ovid e informati on o n the un ique HS V compo nents fitted to HSV V Z vehicl es. T he

information in this document is designed to supplement the information contained in the Holden VZ series Service

Manuals, and details are g iven where differences occur between the HSV models and standard Holde n models. A series

of instruction drawings describe the design changes and indicate specific part numbers, fitting instructions and relevant

notes for vehicle servicing.

This supplement is divided into Sections and each Section addresses a specific subject - for example, Section D

discusses Brake Systems. In addition, supplementary Service Bulletins will be issued (as the need arises) to describe

service operations on new systems and/or new vehicles not previously described in this supplement. These

supplementary Service Bulleti ns will be issued in numerical sequenc e.

Terms used in this document accord with the contents of International Standard ISO 1087 (1990). In addition, other

terms are used to indicate that precautions must be taken during the servicing procedures that follow. The terms used

are Caution and Note, and these terms have the following meanings:
