1 General Information
All MY 2004 AWD Wagon vehicles are fitted with HVAC Occupant Climate Control (Auto A/C) as standard equipment.
Depending on model level, this may be of single or dual zone configuration and is combined with a high power engine
cooling fan system (430 W) identical to that used on the previously released MY 2003 VY Series Regular Cab vehicles
with GEN III V8 engines. The engine cooling fan operating strategy is also the same.
For information relating to the description and operation of major components such as the condenser, filter drier receiver,
compressor, evaporator, heater core, blower fan, cooling fans and water valve, which are common to both manual A/C
and OCC (Auto A/C) air conditioning systems, refer to Section 2A HVAC Climate Control (Manual A/C) – Description and
Operation in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
For further information relating specifically to the description and operation of the Occupant Climate Control (Auto A/C),
refer to Section 2D HVAC Occupant Climate Control (Auto A/C) – Description and Operation in the MY 2003 VY and
V2 Series Service Information.
For information relating to the engine cooling fan system, refer to Section 6B3 Engine Cooling in the MY 2003 VY Series
Regular Cab Service Information.

2 Description
2.1 Occupant Climate Control Module
Two types of OCC control module are carried over from the MY 2003 VY Series to be used in the MY 2004 AWD Wagon
vehicle range.
Where the vehicle is fitted with single zone HVAC Occupant Climate Control, the OCC control module is as shown in
Figure 2D – 1. The passenger side of the OCC control module is fitted with a MIN (Cold) / MAX (Hot) Uncontrolled
Temperature Setting switch (1). The driver’s side is fitted with a Set Temperature switch (2).
Figure 2D – 1
Where the vehicle is fitted with dual zone HVAC Occupant Climate Control, the OCC control module is as shown in
Figure 2D – 2. A Set Temperature switch (1) is fitted to both the passenger side and the driver’s side of the OCC control
module.
Figure 2D – 2
For further information relating specifically to the configurations and components of the OCC control module, refer to
Section 2D, 3.1 OCC Control Module in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.

All OCC control modules fitted to the MY 2004 AWD Wagon vehicle range display an additional driving condition icon to
the driver in the form of a snowflake. This ‘Ice Warning’ symbol (1) will be displayed on the LCD screen (2) when the
outside temperature is approximately 2 °C or below. It is provided to alert the driver that the road surface may be
hazardous. The symbol will turn off when the outside temperature rises above 4 °C. The outside temperature information
is relayed to the OCC control module by the ambient temperature sensor.

For further information relating to all other graphics and icons displayed by the OCC control module LCD screen, refer to
Section 2D, 3.1 OCC Control Module in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
For further information relating to the operation of the OCC control module, refer to Section 2D, 4 Operation in the
MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
