1 General Information
With the following exceptions, MY 2004 VY and V2 Series Lubrication and Service information carries over from the
MY 2003 VY and V2 Series vehicles. For information not contained within this Section, refer to Section 0B Lubrication
and Service in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
These exceptions are detailed in the following pages:
New sump for GEN III V8 engines.
Dipstick change for GEN III V8 engines.
Dipstick change for V6 and V6 Supercharged engines.
Constant Velocity (CV) joint and propeller shaft inspection change for V6 LPG and GEN III V8 engines.

2 Lubrication Specifications
2.1 Capacities Chart
Ne w sump fo r GE N III V8 eng ine s
A new sump is fitted to all MY 2004 VY and V2 Series vehicles fitted with a GEN III V8 engine. This sump increases the
engine oil capacity from 5.7 litres to 6.2 litres.
The following chart outlines the revised portion of the Capacities Chart. Refer to Section 0B, 2. Lubrication Specifications
in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.

Dipstick change for GEN III V8 engines
A new dipstick is used in the MY 2004 VY and V2 Series
vehicles fitted with a GEN III V8 engine. The dipstick has
revised markings to outline both the 1 litre volume and
the Add level.
The shaded area (1 to 2) outlines a volume range of
1 litre whereas the area between the Add mark (3) and
the Upper mark (4) outlines a volume range of 1.5 litres.

Dipsticks for V6 and V6 supercharged engines
One of two dipsticks is used in the MY 2004 VY and V2
Series vehicles fitted with a V6 or V6 supercharged
engine.
The area between the upper mark (1) and the Add mark
(2) indicates the safe operating area and outlines a
volume range of 1.5 litres.

3.1 Maintenance Schedule – V6 with LPG
and GEN III V8 – Domestic
CV joint and propeller shaft inspection change
This service item has been added to the 1500 km and 10 000 km services for vehicles fitted with a V6 engine with LPG
or a GEN III V8 engine.
The following chart illustrates the revised portion of the maintenance schedules for all vehicles fitted with a V6 engine
with LPG or a GEN III V8 engine.

Spark plug change interval
The service interval for spark plugs used in the GEN III V8 engines has been increased from 80 000 km to 90 000 km.
Refer to Section 0B Lubrication and Service, 3. Servicing, in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
The following chart illustrates the revised portion of the maintenance schedule for all vehicles fitted with a GEN III V8
engine.
