1 General Information
With the following exceptions, MY 2004 VY and V2 Series lighting system information carries over from MY 2003 VY and
V2 Series vehicles:
• Level 1 vehicles front turn signal lamp,
• Level 3 Sedan domestic and Level 2 vehicles front fog lamp,
• Level 3 Sedan tail lamp assembly,
• Utility and Wagon tail lamp assembly,
• Utility and Wagon tail lamp assembly bulbs, and
• some Level 1 vehicles roof console.
For information not contained within this Section, refer to Section 12B Lighting System in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series
Service Information.
1.1 Front Turn Signal Lamp Assembly
Except for Level 1 vehicles, the front turn signal lamps fitted to MY 2004 VY and V2 Series vehicles carry over from
MY 2003 VY and V2 Series vehicles. Refer to Section 12B Lighting System in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service
Information.
The front turn signal lamps fitted to MY 2004 Level 1 vehicles carry over from MY 2003 Level 1 Series vehicles with the
exception of the reflector tinted orange and the bulb made of clear glass.

1.2 Front Fog Lamp Assembly
The front fog lamps fitted to MY 2004 VY and V2 Series vehicles carry over from MY 2003 VY and V2 Series vehicles
except for Level 2 vehicles and the mounting to Level 3 Sedan domestic vehicles. Refer to Section 12B Lighting System
in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
Level 2 Vehicles
The front fog lamps fitted to MY 2004 VY Level 2 vehicles carry over from MY 2003 VY Level 3 vehicles. Refer to
Section 12B Lighting System in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
Level 3 Sedan Domestic Vehicles
The Level 3 Sedan domestic vehicles have the front fog lamp assembly (1) attached to a new designed front bumper
fascia assembly (2), refer to Figure 12B – 1.
The lower radiator grille (3) needs to be removed to access the front fog lamp assembly for aiming adjustment and bulb
replacement. Refer to 2.1 Front Fog Lamp Aiming and 2.2 Front Fog Lamp Bulb Assemblies.
The front fog lamp bezel (4) is attached to the lower radiator grille, for service operations refer to Section 1C, 2.2 Lower
Radiator Grille Assembly.

1.3 Tail Lamp Assembly
The tail lamps fitted to MY 2004 VY and V2 Series vehicles carry over from MY 2003 VY and V2 Series vehicles except
for two basic tail lamp geometries applicable to the following groups of vehicles:
• Level 3 Sedan vehicles, View A, and
• all Utility and Wagon vehicles, View B, refer to Figure 12B – 2.
Except Level 3 Sedan vehicles, all provide the following functions:
• stop/tail signal (1),
• turn signal (2),
• back-up light (3), and
• reflex reflectors (4).
Level 3 Sedan vehicles provide the following functions:
• stop/tail signal (1),
• turn signal (2), and
• back-up light (3).
Beside the physical differences between the tail lamp assemblies, the tail lamps for Level 3 Sedan vehicles also have a
second datum pin added on the edge of the mounting flange and the reflex reflector has been added to the rear bumper
fascia.

1.4 Roof Console
The roof console fitted to MY 2004 VY Series vehicles carries over from MY 2003 VY Series vehicles except for some
Level 1 vehicles.
The roof console fitted to these Level 1 vehicles is similar to
those fitted to MY 2003 VY Series vehicles except for the
two map lamps which do not have an individual switch.
A blank plate (1) is fitted in place of each map lamp switch.
The operation of the map lamps is automatic.

2 Service Operations
2.1 Front Fog Lamp Aiming
The process for aiming the front fog lamps for MY 2004 VY and V2 Series vehicles carries over from MY 2003 VY and
V2 Series vehicles except for Level 3 Sedan domestic vehicles. Refer to Section 12B Lighting System in the MY 2003 VY
and V2 Series Service Information.
Level 3 Sedan Domestic Vehicles
The aiming process of the front fog lamp for MY 2004 VY
Level 3 Sedan domestic vehicles carries over from MY 2003
VY Level 3 Sedan vehicles except for the removal of the
lower radiator grille. Refer to Section 12B Lighting System in
the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
Remove the lower radiator grille from the front bumper
fascia (1) to have access to the front fog lamp aiming
adjusting screw (2). Refer to S ecti on 1C, 2.2 Low er Radiat or
Grille Assembly.
NOTE
The front fog lamp bezel is attached to the lower
radiator grille and is removed with it in the
removal proces s.

2.2 Front Fog Lamp Bulb Assemblies
The front fog lamps bulb replacement for MY 2004 VY and V2 Series vehicles carries over from MY 2003 VY and V2
Series vehicles except for Level 3 Sedan domestic vehicles. Refer to Sect ion 12B Light ing Sy stem in the MY 2003 VY
and V2 Series Service Information.
Level 3 Sedan Domestic Vehicles
The front fog lamps bulb replacement for MY 2004 VY
Level 3 Sedan domestic vehicles carries over from MY 2003
VY Level 3 Sedan vehicles except for the removal of the
lower radiator grille. Refer to Section 12B Lighting System in
the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
Remove the lower radiator grille from the front bumper
fascia (1) to have access to the front fog lamp screw (2)
attaching the clamp ring (3). Refer to Section 1C, 2.2 Lower
Radiator Grille Assembly.
NOTE
The front fog lamp bezel is attached to the lower
radiator grille and is removed with it in the
removal proces s.

2.3 Tail Lamp Assembly Bulbs

Level 3 Sedan
When installing the tail lamp assembly onto
the vehicle, ensure that the tail lamp
assembly is seated properly with the two
datum pins positioned correctly in the sheet
metal.
The replacement of the tail lamp bulbs for MY 2004 VY Level 3 Sedan vehicles carries over from MY 2003 VY Level 3
Sedan vehicles. Refer to Section 12B, 2.5 Tail Lamp Assembly Bulbs in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service
Information.
Wagon and Utility
The replacement of the tail lamp bulbs for MY 2004 VY W agon and Utility vehicles carries over from MY 2003 VY Wagon
and Utility vehicles, with the following exceptions. Refer to Section 12B, 2.5 Tail Lamp Assembly Bulbs in the MY 2003
VY and V2 Series Service Information.
Ensure that the correct tail lamp bulb is fitted
to the appropriate bulb socket.
The Utility and Wagon vehicles have colour coded bulb sockets where:
• white is used for the reverse bulb socket,
• amber is used for the turn signal bulb socket, and
• red is used for the stop/tail bulb socket.
The bulb sockets for Utility and Wagon vehicles have two assembly tangs for both the reverse and stop/tail bulb sockets,
and three assembly tangs for the turn signal bulb socket.
NOTE
For Utility and Wagon vehicles the glass of the
turn signal bulb is tinted orange.

Level 3 Sedan
When installing the tail lamp assembly onto
the vehicle, ensure that the two datum pins on

Level 3 Sedan Domestic Vehicles
