1 General Information
With the following exceptions, MY 2004 VY and V2 Series V6 Engine Tune information carry over from MY 2003 VY and
V2 Series vehicles:
vehicle emission control information label,
engine tune recommendation chart, and
engine tuning data chart.
For V6 engine tune information not provided in this Section, refer to Section 6F1 Engine Tune – V6 Engine in the
MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
1.1 Vehicle Emission Control Information
Engine tune specifications necessary to achieve the correct
emission levels are located on the vehicle emission control
information label (1), located in the engine compartment on
the grain free area of the radiator shroud. Refer to the label
before adjusting the engine.
To maintain the performance and emission control levels
specified for the vehicle, it is necessary for regular
maintenance to be performed in accordance with the
schedule set out in the VY Series Owner's Handbook.
Figure 6F1 – 1
For domestic vehicles produced before 2004 and vehicles for export to Brazil and Indonesia, the vehicle emission control
information label carries over from MY 2003 VY and V2 Series vehicles. Refer to Section 6E1 Emission Control – V6
Engine in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information.
For domestic vehicles produced from the start of 2004 and vehicles for export to the Gulf States and Thailand, a new
vehicle emission control information label is introduced, refer to Figure 6F1 – 2.

2 Engine Tune Recommendations
2.1 Engine Tune Recommendation Chart
The following engine tune recommendation chart lists the items that require attention when tuning the engine. Cross-
references to the appropriate section in the MY 2004 VY and V2 Series Service Information are also provided.
There is no provision for ignition timing, idle speed and idle mixture adjustments on MY 2004 VY and V2 Series models
with a V6 engine, refer to Section 6C1 Powertrain Management – V6 Engine in the MY 2004 VY and V2 Series Service
Information.
NOTE
The use of unleaded petrol will result in black tail
pipe deposits rather than the familiar grey colour.
Therefore, the black colour does not indicate a
poor state of engine tune.
