
SECTION 12M - SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT
SYSTEM
CAUTION:
This vehicle will be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). A SRS will consist of either
seat belt pre-tensioners and a driver's air bag, seat belt pre-tensioners and a driver's and front
passenger's air b ags o r seat b elt p re-t ension ers, driv er’s an d f ron t p asseng er’s air bag and left and righ t
hand side air bags. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, Section 12M Supplemental Restraint System
before performing any se rvice operation on, or around any S RS components, the steering mechanism or
wiring. Failure to follow the SAFETY PRECAUTIONS could result in SRS deployment, resulting in
possible personal injury or unnecessary SRS system repairs.
1. GENERAL INFORMATION
The Supplem ental Restraint System (SRS) fitted to VT Series Models with Production O ptions (P.O.) 9C1 and A8V
is the same system fitted to other VT Series Models, noting the following:
To prevent the seat belt pre-tens ioner connec tor YB209 being accidentally disconnected, ensure the r etaining c lip is
refitted correctly and taped whenever the pre-tensioner assembly wiring harness connector is disconnected. Refer
to Section 1A7 SEAT AND SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES of this Service Information CD for additional information.
For all SRS information reference to the following should be made:
For vehicles fitted with version 6.2 Sensing and Diagnos tic Module (SDM), ref er to Section 12M SUPPLEM ENT AL
RESTRAINT SYSTEM (Version 6.2) of the VT Series I Service Information.
For vehicles fitted with a version 8.0 or 8.1 SDM refer to Section 12M SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM
(Version 8.0 and 8.1) of the VT Series I Service Information.
NOTE: To identify which version SDM is fitted to a vehicle, connect TECH 2 to the Data Link Connector (DLC),
attached to the instrument panel lower right hand trim, to the right of the steering wheel, and select the following:
Diagnostics / Model Year / Vehicle Type / Body / SRS / turn the ignition on and press the c onfir m k ey as requested.
TECH 2 will display the SDM part number, the SDM production date and the SDM module type.
