SECTION 12P - WIRING DIAGRAMS
CAUTION:
This vehicle will be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). A SRS will consist of either
seat belt pre-tensioners and a driver's air bag, seat belt pre-tensioners and a driver's and front
passenger's air b ags o r seat b elt p re-t ension ers, driv er’s an d f ron t p asseng er’s air bag and left and righ t
hand side air bags. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, Section 12M Supplemental Restraint System
before performing any se rvice operation on, or around any S RS components, the steering mechanism or
wiring. Failure to follow the SAFETY PRECAUTIONS could result in SRS deployment, resulting in
possible personal injury or unnecessary SRS system repairs.
1. GENERAL INFORMATION
This Section contains four electrical circuit wiring diagrams, together with corresponding wiring harness layout
illustrations, which are unique to VT Series Models with Production Options (P.O.) 9C1 and A8V.
1. The first covers the interior lights out feature for earlier VT Series Models (override switch part of dome lamp
assembly type)
2. The second covers the interior lights out feature for latter VT Series Models (override switch located in
instrument panel facia type)
3. The third covers the auxiliary power harness for VT Series I Models (V6 and 5.0 litre V8)
4. The fourth covers the auxiliary power harness for VT Series II Models (V6 and 5.7 litre GEN III V8)
NOTE 1: T he introduction date for the VT Series II auxiliary power harness for vehic les with V6 engine is after
VT Series II SOP (approximately September 1999). VT Series II Models with a V6 engine built prior to
September 1999 are fitted with the VT Series I Auxiliary Power Harness, therefore, refer to the VT Series I
Auxiliary Power Harness circuit diagram.
NOTE 2: T he latter type auxiliary power harness c an be identified by a sticker adher ed to the under side of the
fuse box cover, identifying the fuse assignment. VT Series I Auxiliary Power Harnesses do not have a sticker.
These diagrams should be referred to when diagnosing vehicle electrical problems, and should be used with
other wiring diagrams in Section 12P WIRING DIAGRAMS of the VT Series I Service Information or
Section 12P WIRING DIAGRAMS of the VT Series II Service Information.
The wiring diagram s illustrate how a particular circuit should work by design, and s hould be underst ood before
trying to determine why they do not work.
NOTE: It is important to realise that no attempt is made on the diagram s to represent components and wiring
as they appear in the vehicle geographically. However, for broad indications of relays, switches or consum ers,
refer to:
Section 12N FUSES, RELAYS & WIRING HARNESSES of the VT Series I Service Information or
Section 12N FUSES, RELAYS & WIRING HARNESSES of the VT Series II Service Information or
Section 12N FUSES, RELAYS & WIRING HARNESSES in this Section.
For example, a meter length of wire is treated no differently in a wiring diagram from one, which is only a few
centimetres long. Similarly, switches and other components are shown as simply as possible in schematic
format and in an activated state, with basic function being shown.
