SECTION 12M - SUPPLEMENTAL
RESTRAINT SYSTEM
IMPORTANT
Before performing any Service Operation or other procedure described in this Section, refer to Section
00 CAUTIONS AND NOTES for correct workshop practices with regard to safety and/or property damage.
1. GENERAL I NFORMATI O N
The Supplem ental Res traint Sys tem ( SRS), inc luding the Side Im pac t Air Bag (SIAB) as fitted to V2 Series Models,
carries over from VX Series I Models, noting the following:
• Due to the unique side impact characteristics of the coupe body design, the Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM)
as fitted to V2 Series Models contains a unique calibration.
• The removal procedure for the side impact airbag as fitted to V2 Series Models is covered in
Section 1A7 SEATS AND SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES in this Service Information.
For all other information relating to the supplemental restraint system fitted to V2 Series Models, refer
Section 12M SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM in the VX Series I Service Information.
Techline
1.1 SENSING DIAGNOSTIC MODULE IDENTIFICATION
The Sensing Diagnostic Module (1) as fitted to V2
Series Models contains a unique calibration.
Therefore, reference should be made to the 3 digit
broadcast code (2) to ensure that the correct SDM is
installed into the vehicle. Only an SDM with an
identification code of 594 should be installed into V2
Series Models.
