SECTION I - ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTS
CAUTION:
HSV vehicles are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). An SRS
consists of seat belt pre-tensioners (fitted to all front seats), and a driver’s side air
bag or a driver’s side airbag AND a passenger’s-side air bag. Refer to CAUTIONS,
Section 12M, before performing any service operation on or around SRS
components, the steering mechanism or wiring. Failure to follow the CAUTIONS
could result in personal injury or unnecessary SRS system repairs.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this supplem ent is to provide inform ation on the HSV electric al and instrum ent acces sories f itted to
the HSV VT and HSV VS models. The information is designed to supplem ent that given in the Holden VT and VS
Series Service Information CD’s and details are given where differences occur between the HSV models, and
standard Holden models. A series of instruction drawings describe the design changes and indicate specific part
numbers, fitting instructions and relevant notes for vehicle servicing.
NOTE:
If specific technical data on a HSV model is not contained in this supplement, obtain data for that model from the
Holden VT or VS Series Service Manual Supplement. References are made throughout this section to Holden
Series Service Information CD’s, to assist in providing information for specific service operations.
CAUTION:
W hen hois ting (or j acking) HSV models , ensure that the lifting head of the hoist lifts on the chas sis before the arm
of the hoist contacts the side-skirt
INSTRUMENTATION
GENERAL
A special Instrument Cluster designed by HSV is fitted to all HSV VT vehicles , except Manta. The cluster includes a
HSV speedometer with an operating range extending to 250 km/h. The cluster incorporates a mid-grey face, red
needles and warning lines and, when illuminated, green numerals and letters.
SERVICE OPERATIONS
The HSV instrument cluster and the standard Holden VT cluster use the same mounting fixtures and fasteners.
Remove, ser vice and refit the HSV instr ument cluster in ac cordance with the procedures detailed in the Holden VT
Series Service Information CD, refer Section 12C INSTRUMENTS.
ELECTRICAL FACILITIES
The various special HSV options fitted to the VT range of vehicles, often require that special or additional electric
harnesses be installed. Some of these HSV harnesses are fitted during vehicle build-up at the Holden factory and
other smaller harnesses (often called ‘a patch harness’) are fitted at the HSV facility when the electrical option is
being installed. A sum mary of these electrical harnesses is included to facilitate service, repair and retro-fitm ent of
the HSV options.
