SECTION 12B - LIGHTING SYSTEM
CAUTION:
This vehicle will be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). A SRS will consist of either
seat belt pre-tensioners and a driver’s air bag, seat belt pre-tensioners and a driver’s and front
passenger’s air bags or seat belt pre-tensioners, driver’s and front passenger’s air bags and left and
right-hand side air bags. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, Section 12M Supplemental Restraint System
in the VT Series I Service Information before performing any service operation on, or around any SRS
components, the steering mechanism or wiring. Failure to follow the SAFETY PRECAUTIONS could
result in SRS deployment, resulting in possible personal injury or unnecessary SRS system repairs.
CAUTION:
This vehicle may be equipped with LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). In the interests of safety, the LPG
fuel system should be isolated by turning 'OFF' the manual service valve and then draining the LPG
service lines, before any service work is carried out on the vehicle. Refer to the LPG leaflet included with
the Owner's Handbook for details or the appropriate Section of this Service Information CD for more
specific servicing information.
1. GENERAL INFORMATION
The lighting system on the VT Series II models is the same as for that fitted to the VT Series models, with the
following exceptions:
• The side repeater lamp covers are now clear and incorporate an amber globe.
• The rear turn indicator lamp covers are now clear and incorporate an amber globe.
• Changes to the Body Control Module (BCM) battery saver m ode. These include adjustment procedure for the
automatic lights - of f f eatur e and the inc lusion of an inter ior illumination relay to turn off the inter ior lights af ter an
adjustable time delay (High Series vehicles only). For further details, refer to Section 12J-1 LOW SERIES
BODY CONTROL MODULE, or Section 12J-2 HIGH SERIES BO DY CO NT RO L MO DULE in the VT Series II
Service Information as appropriate.
• With the introduction of the GEN III V8 engine, minor changes have been introduced to some Service
Operations.

2. SERVICE OPERATIONS
2.1 HEADLAMP, PARKING LAMP, INBOARD HIGH BEAM,
FRONT TURN SIGNAL LAMP BULBS AND/OR HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY
(Left-hand headlamp assembly for vehicles fitted with GEN III V8 engine)
REMOVE
NOTE: The following information is in addition to the procedures detailed in Section 12B LIGHTING SYSTEM in
the VT Series I Service Information.
Remove four scrivets securing upper radiator support cover and remove cover.
Remove air inlet snorkel from air cleaner housing by pulling snorkel straight out from air cleaner housing.
REINSTALL
Install air inlet snorkel into air cleaner housing by aligning snorkel with air cleaner housing and pushing firmly into
place.
Position upper radiator support cover and install four scrivets to secure cover.
