SECTION 1D - BUMPER BARS
IMPORTANT:
Before performing any Service Operation or other procedure described in this Section, refer to Section
00 CAUTIONS AND NOTES for correct workshop practices with regard to safety and/or property damage.
1. GENERAL I NFORMATI O N
Front bumper bar and rear bumperette assemblies fitted to VU Series Models are of polypropylene material. The
front bumper bar carries over from VX Series Models, noting the following:
The front bumper facia fitted to VU Series Utility and S Models carries over from the VX Series Executive
Models.
The front bumper facia fitted to VU Series SS Models carries over from VX Series S and SS Models.
The rear bumperette assembly is unique to utility models and is attached to the body at the sides and rear.
For information relating to VU Series Models not covered in this Section, refer to
Section 1D FRONT AND REAR BUMPER BARS in the VX Series Service Information.
2. SERVICE OPERATIONS
2.1 REAR BUMPERETTE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE
1. Insert a flat tip screw driver and clean shop rag between the outer edge of the bumperette lower retaining bolt
cap (4) and the bumperette facia (1) and pry cap out of bumperette.
2. Open the endgate and remove the two bolts (5) securing the rear of the bumperette facia (1), refer to Fig. 1D-1.
3. Remove the two screws retaining the forward edge of the rear bumperette facia to the wheelarch opening.
4. Remove the three screws securing the underside of the rear bumperette facia to the rear quarter panel.
5. Star ting at the wheelarch area pull the top edge of the bum perette f acia upwards to disc onnect it from the facia
guide rail (2).
6. Slide the bumperette facia rearwards and remove.

REINSTALL
Reverse removal operations. Snap the rear bumperette facia onto the retainers on the facia guide rail and adjust the
rear bumperette facia to ensure correct clearance.
Tighten all fasteners to the correct torque specification.
