SECTION 12L - ANTI-LOCK BRAKING &
ELECTRONIC TRACTION CONTROL
IMPORTANT:
Before performing any Service Operation or other procedure described in this Section, refer to Section
00 CAUTIONS AND NOTES for correct workshop practices with regard to safety and/or property damage.
1. GENERAL I NFORMATI O N
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) system used on VU Series Models is the same as that used on VX Series
Models, noting the following:
1. Electronic traction control is not available on VU Series Models.
2. The body harness changes to facilitate the utility body style.
3. The rear piping changes to incorporate the load sensing proportioning valve.
4. When using TECH 2 on a VU Series Model, ensure the correct Model Year and Vehicle Ty pe is selected:
Model Year: Vehicle Type:
(Y) 2000 VU Utility
(1) 2001 VU Utility
(2) 2002 VU Utility

2. SERVICE OPERATIONS
All ABS Service Operations for VU Series Models carry over from those described in
Section 12L ABS & ABS/ETC of the VX Series Service Information.

All diagnosis information for the ABS systems fitted to VU Series Models is as detailed in
Section 12L ABS & ABS/ETC of the VX Series Service Information.
