SECTION 1A4 - REAR COMPARTMENT LID

AND TAILGATE

IMPORTANT

Before performing any Service Operation or other procedure described in this Section, refer to Section

00 CAUTIONS AND NOTES for correct workshop practices with regard to safety and/or property damage.

1. GENERAL I NFORMATI O N

All information relating to the rear compartment lid and tailgate assembly for VX Series Models is as detailed in

Section 1A4 REAR COMPARTMENT LID AND TAILGATE in the VT Series I Service Information, noting the

following:

On VX Series Sedans, the rear compartment lid lock cylinder has been deleted and an emergency release cable

assembly added. The emergency release cable assembly is accessed from behind the centre of the rear seats.

2. SERVICE OPERATIONS

2.1 REAR COMPARTMENT LID EMERGENCY RELEASE CABLE ASSEMBLY - SEDAN

REMOVE

1. Remove the drivers side rear seat back, refer 1A7 SEAT AND SEAT BELTS in the VT Series I Service

Information.

2. Partially remove the drivers side rear parcel shelf trim, refer 1A8 HEADLINING AND REAR END TRIM in the

VT Series I Service Information.

3. Remove the screw (2) securing the rear compartment lid remote release assembly to the rear seat back tray

opening.

4. From within the rear compartment remove the rear compartment lid carpet assembly refer

1A4 REA R COMPARTMENT LID AND TAILGATE in the VT Series I Service Information.

5. Remove the rear compartment lid latch assembly (4), disengage the cable from the latch assembly.

6. Remove the s crew (2) and the cable ties (5) sec uring the rear com partm ent lid rem ote release assem bly to the

rear compartment lid.

7. Carefully feed the cable (1) into the passenger compartment removing the assembly.

REINSTALL

Reinstallation of the rear compartment lid emergency release cable assembly is the reverse of the removal

operation.
