1 General Information
With the following exceptions, MY 2003 VY Regular Cab Lighting System information carries over from MY 2003 VY
Series vehicles. For information not contained within this Section, refer to Section 12B Lighting System in the MY 2003
VY and V2 Series Service Information.

Mounting Bracket
1.1 Tail Lamp Assembly
The tail lamp assemblies are self-contained units. Illumination is provided by bayonet type incandescent bulbs. Electrical
connection is provided by weatherproof harness connectors. The tail lamp assemblies are mounted on the transport
bracket that is fixed to the rear of the chassis.
For internal and external views of the tail lamp assemblies, refer to Figure 12B – 1.
The tail lamp assembly provides the following functions:
Turn signal lamp
Back-up lamp
Stop lamp
Tail lamp
Reflex reflector

NOTE
Figure 12B – 1 shows a left tail lamp assembly.
With a right tail lamp assembly, the location of
the backup lamp and the stop lamp are opposite.

1.2 Rear Licence Plate Lamp Assembly
The rear licence plate lamp assembly is a sealed self-contained unit and has a weatherproof harness connector. The
rear licence plate lamp assembly is mounted on the transport bracket that is fixed to the rear of the chassis.

1.3 Transport Bracket
The transport bracket (1) is designed to hold tail lamp assemblies (2) and rear licence lamp assembly (3).
During tray installation, the tail lamp assembly and rear license plate lamp assembly are removed from the transport
bracket and installed to the tray. The transport bracket is then discarded.
The attachment method of the lamp assemblies to the tray should be similar to the transport bracket. The position of
lamp assemblies fitted to the tray should be legally compliant.
With the many variations of custom built and aftermarket trays available to fit MY 2003 VY Series Regular Cab vehicles,
it is recommended that the technician refer to the appropriate supplier or body builder for the relevant service
information required for the particular tray fitted to the vehicle.

Replace
1 Remove the lighting fusible link F102 from the engine compartment fuse and relay panel assembly. Refer to
Section 12O Fuses, Relays and Wiring Harnesses.
2 Clasping the tail lamp assembly lens (1), carefully
lever out one of the tangs (2), which extends from the
tail lamp assembly housing (3), and partially pull out
the lens. Repeat this procedure with the other tang of
the tail lamp assembly, and remove the lens.
3 Remove the appropriate bulb from the bulb mounting
plate (4) by pressing the bulb and then rotating it.
4 Inspect the housing seal (5) for damage and replace
the tail lamp housing assembly if necessary.
NOTE
The housing seal is part of the tail lamp housing
assembly and is not replaced separately.
5 Insert a new bulb into the bulb mounting plate,
ensuring that it locks securely into place.
NOTE
Bulb specifications are moulded into the tail
lamp housing, near the corresponding bulb
location.
6 Install the lighting fusible link F102 on the engine
compartment fuse and relay panel assembly, refer to
Section 12O Fuses, Relays and Wiring Harnesses. Figure 12B – 4
7 Check the tail lamp assembly for correct operation.
8 Install the lens onto the housing, with the cut-out (6) on the lower part and the backup lens (clear) inboard of the
tail lamp assembly. Ensure that the two tangs secure the lens to the housing.
