
SECTION 12 - ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS –

IMPORTANT:
Before performing any Service Operation or other procedure described in this Section, refer to Section
00 CAUTIONS AND NOTES in this Service Information for correct workshop practices with regard to
safety and torquing procedures.
1. GENERAL I NFORMATI O N
For service information relating to the MY2001 WH Models electrical system, refer to the relevant Section of the WH
Series Service Information, noting the following information.
12A BATTERY & CABLES
Excluding revised battery specifications, all information relating to the battery and cables for W H Series Models is
as described in Section 12A BATTERY & CABLES of the WH Series Service Informtion.
For information relating to battery specifications, refer to Section 12A BATTERY & CABLES in the VX Series I
Service Information.
12H ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE REAR VISION MIRRORS
For all information relating to the general service operations and diagnosis of the electrically adjustable rear view
mirrors, reference should be made to Section 12H ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE REAR VISION MIRRORS of
the WH Series I Service Information.
NOTE: For information relating the service operations and diagnostics for the exterior rear vision mirror control
switch as fitted to WH Models with option U4B, refer to Section 12H in the VX Series I Service Information.
12J-2 HIGH SERIES BODY CONTROL MODULE
All information relating to the High Series Body Control Module (BCM), is as detailed in
Section 12J-2 HIGH SERIES BODY CONTROL MODULE of the VT Series II Service Information, noting the
following:
A m inor change to the c ooling fan wiring harnes s connec tors has been m ade. The intr oduction of a new Powertrain
Control Module (PCM) for the V6 engine has resulted in a change to the PCM terminal assignment. Therefore, to
avoid any c onf us ion, f or all BCM diagnos tic proc edur es that may be ef f ec ted by this PCM change, (including cooling
fan diagnostics) refer to Section 12J-2 HIGH SERIES BODY CONTROL MODULE in the VX Series I Servcie
Information.
12M SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM
The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fitted to WH Series Statesman and Caprice Models, version 8.1, is a
six-loop system which carries over from VT Series Models.
Since the introduction of SRS version 8.1, numerous changes and corrections have occurred. These changes do
not effect SRS operation or Service Operations. However, to avoid any confusion, the Diagnostic Charts for SRS
version 8.1 have been updated and republished in Section 12M SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM in the
VX Series I Service Information.
For all information relating the SRS, which is not included in the VX Series Service Manual, refer to
Section 12M SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM in the VT Series 1 Service Information.
NOTE: W hen using TECH 2 on a W H Series Model, ensure the correct Model Year and Vehicle Type is selected:
(1) 2001 WH Statesman & Caprice
