1 General Information
With the following exceptions, MY 2004 WK Series GEN III V8 engine starting system information carries over from MY
2003 VY and V2 Series Models. For all GEN III V8 engine starting system information, refer to Section 6D3-2, Starting
System - GEN III V8 Engine in the MY 2003 VY and V2 Series Service Information
• The starter motor heat shield has been revised.
1.1 Starter Motor Heat Shield
Figure 6D3-2 – 1 shows the clip-on type starter motor heat
shield (1). To gain access to the starter motor or to service
the clip-on type heat shield, remove it by pulling it firmly with
two hands, and reinstall it by simply pressing it firmly onto
the starter moto r body.
